In December, US electric car maker Tesla sold 70,847 Chinese-made cars. This is the highest monthly sales since Tesla started making cars at Shanghai in 2019. Reuters quoted the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) as saying.
Tesla also has 245 vehicles on its December sales list which they exported in China. In addition, the total sales volume in December is almost three times more than in December 2020 and about 34 percent more than last November.
As accounted by Reuters, according to the CPCA, at least 4,73,078 Chinese-made cars were sold in 2021. As a result, almost half of the world’s Tesla cars were sold in China. In 2021, Tesla sold about 936,000 cars worldwide, reported Reuters.
The Chinese electric car market is dominated by local companies such as BYD and Wooling. BYD and Wooling are, of course, part of General Motors. Tesla is the only foreign company placed in the top 10.
