Iran’s second-largest airline, Mahan Air, has come under renewed cyber attack. On Sunday, cyber criminals attacked the computer system of Mahan Air after a cyber attack targeting several companies. The company’s website is down.
“It has already been the target of several attacks due to its important position in the country’s aviation industry,” the airline said in a statement. There were also attacks on Sunday. However, all their flights departed on time.
Mahan Air spokesman Amir Hossain Jolanwari told state television, “Our Internet security team has foiled the cyber attack.”
Mahan Air is the second largest private airline in Iran after Iran Air, the main national carrier. It has been a blacklisted domestic company of Iranian companies targeted by US sanctions since 2011. It serves destinations in Europe and Asia. Iran last month blamed Israel and the United States for cyber-attacks on its petrol distribution systems, which have caused fuel pump disruptions across the country.
