Amazon is considering dropping ‘Visa’ from the United States as a partner after announcing that it will not accept Visa credit cards in the UK due to additional charges. And if it is implemented, customers will not be able to buy Amazon products or services with Visa credit cards from both countries. News Reuters.
The e-commerce giant has already talked to several payment networks, including MasterCard, American Express and Visa. A spokesman for Amazon said they were reviewing the co-branded credit card deal.
Visa declined to comment on their co-branded card. MasterCard and American Express also did not comment.
Visa’s share price has fallen 4.7% since Amazon’s announcement that it will not accept Visa credit cards in the UK from January 19, 2022.
In a statement, Amazon said that as technology advances, such charges continue to decline. But they are either keeping the charge high or increasing it further.
