For the first time, the shooting of a full-length movie in space has ended. The Russian movie ‘The Challenge’ was shot on the International Space Station. Russian actress Yulia Peresild, producer Klim Shipenko and Russian astronaut Oleg Novitsky returned to Earth on Saturday after a long 12-day stay in space. News Engadget.
Peresild and Shipenko arrived at the ISS on October 5 under an agreement among the Russian space agency Roscosmos, television network Channel One and production studio Yellow, Black and White.
On the other hand, Novitsky has been in the ISS since April 9 due to his regular responsibilities. However, he also played the lead role in this movie. Peresild plays as a surgeon in the movie. Due to an emergency, she needed to go to ISS and perform surgery on an astronaut.
Several ISS crew members had to make significant sacrifices to shoot the film. Peresild became the first professional actress to set a record for space travel. However, William Shatner went into space the following week.
The release of the movie is still quite late. It goes without saying that the movie was originally made for a Russian audience. However, it will be a milestone in the use of space for personal use.
