The Islamic State (IS) used to host their websites and content on Amazon Web Services to establish their ideology through propaganda, the Washington Post reported. The group’s media department, Nida-e-Haq, recently posted a message in Urdu on the website celebrating the suicide bombing in Kabul that killed 160 people.
Amazon shut down the website shortly after the Washington Post broke the news. “According to our policy, no subscriber may publish any content that encourages violence and terrorist activity,” Amazon said in a statement.
The website that Amazon has shut down provides content in the Nida-e-Haq app. The app recently featured a picture of a suicide bomber in Kabul wearing a suicide vest. A special feature of the media department of IS is to declare and celebrate immediately if any occurrence they occur. The same thing happened in this case.
The app is currently password protected and not visible, but according to data from online domain records, it has been active since at least last April.
