In order to satisfy the curiosity and calling at 333 emergency service number, an established businessman in Narayanganj has to provide food aid to 100 poor families as a penalty rather than food aid.
Narayanganj Sadar Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Arifa Zahura confirmed the information.
The businessman named Farid Ahmed owns a hosiery factory and a four-storey house in Kashipur of Sadar Upazila.
Local administration officials got this information by calling 333 for emergency food assistance. As a result, the mobile court on Thursday punished the businessman for ‘harassing’ government people by calling the emergency services number.
According to the court’s verdict, Farid Ahmed will now have to provide a food aid packet with 10 kg of rice, 1 kg of pulses, 1 kg of oil, 1 kg of salt, 1 kg of onion, 1 kg of potatoes and spices for each of the 100 poor families. In all, more than one and a half thousand kg of food items should be distributed among the poor.
