A U.S. federal judge has ruled that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is not personally liable in the 25 lawsuits filed against Meta Platforms over allegations of child addiction on social media. According to Reuters, these lawsuits, filed by parents and schools, allege that Facebook and Instagram posed mental health risks to young users. However, U.S. District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers in Oakland, California, dismissed claims that Zuckerberg personally directed Meta to conceal these risks.
In her ruling on Thursday, Judge Rogers stated that there was insufficient evidence to hold Zuckerberg personally accountable for these allegations. This decision comes amid growing scrutiny of social media’s impact on children’s mental health.
