Mehedi Hasan Shuvo, a talented student from the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department of Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET), Gazipur, has joined DigiWeb in Albania as a Senior Software Engineer. Originally from Kalkini upajila of Madaripur district, Shuvo was a student at Barishal Polytechnic Institute in the Computer Technology program for the 2014-15 session. He completed his B.Sc. in Engineering from DUET in October 2024.
Reflecting on his success, Shuvo shared, “Shortly after being admitted to the university, the COVID-19 pandemic struck. During that time, I decided to learn a new skill. I completed a Flutter course at the BASIS Institute of Technology & Management (BITM). Subsequently, I developed an Islamic application called Search Islam and uploaded it to the Google Play Store. Later, I secured an internship at a software company while also engaging in competitive programming for a year. Over time, I gained opportunities to work with several companies and participated in two government projects.
The last company I joined is DigiWeb, where I work remotely. I applied for the job through a LinkedIn post they had made. They assigned me a small task, which I completed exceptionally well, impressing them. Subsequently, they confirmed their interest in working with me and assigned me a project for further study. Upon reviewing the project’s code, I noticed a lack of structure and proposed a solution to organize it effectively. They appreciated my approach and subsequently appointed me as a Senior Software Engineer. I have been with the company for nearly eight months now.”
During his time at the university, Shuvo combined his industrial experience with academic research, leading to strong relationships with faculty members and numerous learning opportunities. As a result, he has published six papers in various journals, two of which are in Q1 journals. His research areas include Explainable Artificial Intelligence, Federated Learning, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Image Processing, Artificial Intelligence, and Edge Computing.
In addition to his academic achievements, Mehedi Hasan served as the Vice President of the Executive Committee of the DUET Computer Society for the 2023-24 session.
