The construction work of the ‘Sheikh Hasina Institute of Frontier Technology (SHIFT)’ project has officially started from Saturday in Kutubpur Union of Shibchar Upazila of Madaripur District through Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority. With the official start of the construction work in the morning, Omar Farooq and Nasir Uddin Matbar, sons of the local Danesh Matbar, were handed over the land acquisition check in the opening ceremony of the construction work. It is informed that the rest of the acquired land owners will receive the checks within this month.
Chief Whip Noor e Alam Chowdhury, the chief guest of the program, said that if the country is run under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as long as she is capable, the people of Shibchar can see the trend of development due to the fact that Bangabandhu’s daughter was made the prime minister three times in a row and I was elected six times in a row. You are being benefitted. After Padma Bridge, when the Frontier Technology Park will be built here, our children will not get the opportunity to study here now. But the future generation will have the opportunity to study at international standards. The Prime Minister has created the future of your children on the soil of Shibchar. So that, you can educate your children with modern and smart education.
While speaking as the President of the event, the ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that the construction work of SHIFT at Shibchar in Madaripur was started as the first research institute in Bangladesh to make the future generation of Bangladesh smart citizens. Hopefully, the SHIFT will play an important role in providing a better modern life. Through this, Shibchar will be the smartest and a model upazila of Bangladesh. From here, children will be prepared to lead the smart Bangladesh of 2041. For hundreds of years, Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, MIT have produced scientists and technologists; Sundar Pichai, who studied at IIT in India (a true friend country for 70 years), became the CEO of Google. Accordingly, the future scientists and technologists who will lead the world will be created from here.
Besides, Secretary of ICT Division Md. Shamsul Arefin, Managing Director of Hi-tech Park Authority GSM Zafrullah, SHIFT Project Director Zahurul Islam, Madaripur Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Marufur Rashid Khan, Superintendent of Police Md. Masudul Alam and Zilla Parishad Chairman Munir Chowdhury also spoke on the occasion.
In his speech, the ICT Secretary Md. Samsul Arefin called for proper use at the right time in the fourth industrial revolution going on around the world. He said that the people of Shibchar and Madaripur are fortunate for the construction of the SHIFT on the initiative of the Prime Minister. Hopefully, SHIFT will become America’s MIT one day. Madaripur will one day surpass Singapore. As a resident of Madaripur, I will try, soon that, there will be an international airport here. A medical university too will be established.
In his welcome speech, GSM Zafarullah said that one thousand educated people will enter the workplace every year from the SHIFT established on 70 acres of land with a vow to serve the country. SHIFT will play a huge role in creating the smart leadership of 2041. So, those who have given land here today can be proud after 5-10 years like Padma Bridge. They can be proud claiming that it was on my land.
Earlier on July 31 last year, Chief Whip laid the foundation stone of the 1500 crore taka project by acquiring 70.34 acres of land of Sheikh Hasina Institute of Frontier Technology (SHIFT) in Shibchar section of Padma Bridge. It was then informed that this project will be implemented by December 2026.
