Obstetrics and Gynecologist Dr. Sangjukta Saha claimed that she is not involved in the death of Eden student obstetrician Mahbooba Rahman Ankhi and her newborn. However, the Central Hospital authorities have counterclaimed that everything has been done according to the instructions of Dr. Sangjukta. The hospital claims, Professor Dr. Sangjukta Saha instructed that the patient should be admitted as her patient even if she is absent. That is why the patient was admitted ‘under’ her even though she was not present in the country on June 9.
At the same time, the hospital authorities demanded a ‘forensic test’ of Dr. Sangjukta Saha’s mobile phone, and said that everything will be clear if the call list, WhatsApp and messenger conversation records of Dr. Sangjukta Saha’s mobile are checked forensically.
A press release signed by the Director of Central Hospital Dr. M A B Siddique and Vice Chairman Dr. MA Kashem made the demand on Sunday (July 2).
In the press release, it is said that before coming of Mahbuba Rahman Ankhi at Central Hospital, they spoke with Md. Zameer, the driver of Dr. Sangjukta Saha and she also knew about the phone call. The record of the patient’s conversation with Md. Zamir and Professor Dr. Sangjukta Saha will become clear by forensically verifying the records of her mobile phone’s call list, WhatsApp and messenger conversations.
The message also stated that Dr. Shahzadi told us that Professor Dr. Sangjukta Saha talked to her over mobile phone about the said patient. In this regard, a forensic test of the mobile phone will provide clear information.
The notification also said, Professor Dr. Sangjukta Saha had a team for normal delivery patients. She has a team of ‘Doctors on call’. Only those doctors used to deal with her patients. The doctors of Central Hospital used to perform their duties only as they were directed by Dr. Sangjukta Saha. However, there was no involvement of administration or management of the Central Hospital regarding the admission of the said patient under Professor Dr. Sangjukta Saha.
It is claimed that Mahbuba Rahman’s husband Yakub Ali himself said that he informed the Deputy Director in Charge of the hospital Dr. Masood Parvez approximately at 4.50 am about the matter. Meanwhile, Md. Yakub Ali again said that the Central Hospital authority informed that Professor Dr. Sangjukta Saha was present, but his (Md. Yakub Ali’s) statement was not found to be true.
