Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak stood by the Eden College Postgraduate who protested by burning her certificate in anger. Mukta Sultana was invited to his office at ICT Tower on Monday morning after seeing the TV report spread online.
After discussion, the state minister offered her a job at Bangladesh Computer Council. She was appointed as ‘Content Development and Social Communication Officer’ of the Council’s Establishment of Secure Email for Government and Digital Literacy Center projects. Mukta will join the workplace from June 4 with a monthly salary of Tk. 35,000 in this six-month project.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak handed over the job offer letter to Mukta after meeting her. Bangladesh Computer Council Executive Director Ranjit Kumar and Establishment of Secure Email for Government and Digital Literacy Center Project Director Saiful Alam Khan were present at that time.
After getting the job, Mukta expressed her gratitude in tears to the State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak. She commented that it is still a surprise to her that a state minister would find her and arrange a job on his own initiative to remove the anger and frustration of a citizen after watching a Facebook video.
On the other hand, the State Minister Palak said that no educated youth will be unemployed in Bangladesh if they receive proper education. The power of youth is the power of Bangladesh. If you can build yourself with skills and talent, everyone will follow you. The ICT department is providing employment by training the youth and will continue to do so in the future. We provide support in various ways including training so that the youth do not get discouraged and move forward with confidence. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina always says one thing, don’t look for a job, become an entrepreneur. He also said that the government is providing all kinds of support to become an entrepreneur.
Earlier, on May 23, Mukta Sultana, who has earned a master’s degree in social work from Eden University College, burned all the academic certificates she had earned in 27 years on Facebook Live.
It may be noted that, on the afternoon of September 19 last year, Md. Mohubar Rahman’s son Badsha Mia of Dakshin Sundar Khata village of Dimla Balapara Union of Nilphamari came on Facebook Live and tore up his certificate. He graduated from Nilphamari Government College (Physical Science) and after trying for a long time, he was disappointed for not getting a job and went viral by tearing his academic certificates on Facebook Live.
