No vehicle will any more be able to cross the toll plazas without using Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) from next October at 11 toll plazas under the Directorate of Roads and Highways (R & H) across the country.
This information was conveyed in an urgent public notice of the R&H on Saturday (May 27).
According to the notification, electronic toll collection system has been introduced on nine bridges and two roads under the coverage of Roads and Highways. No vehicle will be able to cross these toll plazas without using ETC after the month of October.
The nine bridges and two highways are – Karnaphuli Bridge in Chattogram, Meghna Bridge in Narayanganj, Gomoti Bridge in Cumilla, Bhairab Bridge in Narsingdi, Payra Bridge in Patuakhali, Khan Jahan Ali (Rupsa) Bridge in Khulna, Charsindur Bridge in Narsingdi, Shaheed Mayez Uddin Bridge, Atrai Toll Plaza in Natore, Pabna Lalon Shah Bridge and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Expressway.
The notification further states that 10 percent discount is being offered to ETC users as an incentive from the prescribed toll at the said toll plazas. This facility can be availed through Nexus-Pay, Rocket and Upay apps. ETC can be used gradually through other mobile banking institutions and e-payment systems.
