Meanwhile, the country’s cyber regulatory agency recently announced that the US’s largest chip maker poses a serious threat to China’s network security. In the coming days, the world’s second largest economy country, China, will ban the use of various Micron products in important infrastructure projects.
It is the first time China has taken action against a US chipmaker amid rising tensions between Beijing and Washington.
In a statement, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) said Micron’s products contain serious network security threat, which pose a major security risk to China’s critical information infrastructure delivery system and affect the country’s national security. However, the CAC did not elaborate on the risks it found in Micron’s products or itself.
“We are evaluating this decision and our next steps,” a Micron spokesperson said. Also, we are keen to continue discussions with the Chinese authorities.
