His Excellency President of Peoples’ Republic of Bangladesh Abdul Hamid inaugurated the virtual reality (VR) app of Bangabhaban Toshakhana Museum. He inaugurated the app at Bangabhaban Cabinet Hall on Tuesday (April 18) accompanied by the Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak. And through this, the first Bangladeshi Metaverse app developed by the government was published. Through the app , domestic and foreign visitors can have a real experience of visiting Toshakhana through a virtual tour.
While speaking as the chief guest of the app inauguration ceremony, the President emphasized educating the young generation in technical and technological education to ensure the development and progress of the country in this era of the fourth industrial revolution. At the same time, he stressed on ensuring the proper use of this technology from now on and reaping its maximum benefits.
He said, how much we can advance the country will depend on the innovation of technology and its proper use. Our young generation is very talented and if given the right opportunities, they can adapt to any environment.
The benefits of technology innovation and development depend on ensuring the extent to which technology can be used as well as preventing its misuse. In this regard, the President urged the ICT Division to play a leadership role.
He asked the educational institutions to be proactive in taking joint initiatives with stakeholders including the Ministry of Education to increase the scope of technology education and research especially at the higher education level.
Information and Communication Technology can become one of the development tools of Bangladesh in making smart Bangladesh; he said, now for the proper development of VR and other technologies, we need to ensure proper development of technology in the country by taking various creative initiatives including advanced training, higher education, basic research opportunities.
He also said that the impact of this technology will be hundreds of times greater than what we have seen so far in the near future. VR technology will truly change the way people live.
The museum was opened to the public through virtual reality technology under the initiative of the Information and Communication Technology Division and with the technical support of MagicSoft Ltd. Among others, Secretary of Information and Communication Technology Division Md. Samsul Arefin, Private Secretary of State Minister of Information and Communication Technology Md. Mushfiqur Rahman and others were present.
